Balancing patients’ and clinicians’ needs when developing PHR applications and dashboards.
Participants in the iN Touch study say they want to review their ODL data on a daily basis to they can reflect on the patterns and make changes as needed. However, clinicians say they want to see summary reports of the ODL data on a weekly or monthly basis and before their patients come in for visits.
Integrating patient-generated ODL data into clinical electronic health record (EHR) systems.
Clinicians aren’t likely to visit an additional portal or external system to review patient-sourced ODL data; the data must be integrated into existing clinical EHR systems and workflows. However, Meaningful Use requirements have prompted extensive changes to many hospital EHR systems. Because of these changes, hospital IT departments are currently less available to help with ODL data integration.
