If you’ve ever requested or downloaded a copy of your health record, then you’re eligible to enter ONC’s latest video challenge. To enter, create a video that’s less than 2 minutes long to share how you accessed and reviewed your health record. This challenge is one of several recent ONC efforts to ensure that patients and their families know and understand their legal right to request copies of their health records from most health care providers. There are several ways to access these records, including via an online patient portal, through an online personal health record, by email, or in person.
Video entries should describe a specific example (personal story, experience, testimonial, or thoughtful idea) of getting access to view your health record and what you found in your health record or what you did with that information once you had it. Cash prizes are available for this challenge, and first prize is $3,000. Entries are due Aug. 20, 2012 at 5 p.m. EST.
